We love grabbing inspiration from art displayed here in Austin and with less than two weeks left to see Frida Kahlo’s Self-portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird at the Harry Ransom Center, it is a must see if you are in town.
The piece is one of the Ransom Center’s most borrowed works of art. Since 1990, the painting has been featured in museums all over the world including Australia, Canada, France, Spain and Italy.
Don’t miss getting a glimpse of it before the painting hits the road again to be featured in the New Yorks Botanical Garden’s exhibit “Frida Kahlo’s Garden.”
And if you are not in the area, the Detroit Institute of Art’s newest exhibit features 23 pieces by Kahlo as well as several process drawings of husband Diego Rivera’s Detroit Industry murals.
